Galvanizing is one of the most effective methods of anti-corrosion protection for steel surfaces, consisting of applying a thin layer of zinc onto the metal. The resulting coating acts as both a mechanical barrier and electrochemical protection—in the event of a scratch, the zinc oxidizes first, protecting the steel from rust.
